Manuscript copies of the Calendar of Home Office Papers, Great Britain, nos. 934 and 1146 of Vol. III, 4 Dec. 1771 and 2 Mar. 1773 relating to the pardoning of criminals in the colonies, and particularly to the case of Ebenezer Richardson, who killed a boy in Boston in 1770. Records include letters written by Secretary of State for the Colonies and first Lord of Trade and Plantations, the Earl of Hillsborough; and Attorney General Edward Thurlow and Solicitor General Alexander Wedderburn Rosslyn, among others. Also includes a short introduction by Massachusetts Historical Society recording secretary George Dexter, 1881. Originals located in the Domestic Entry Books in The Public Records Office division of Great Britain's National Archives.
